Undrained response of mining sand with fines contents
Author(s)– Thian S. Y, Lee C.Y

ABSTRACT
This paper describes an experimental study on mining sand containing plastic fines to investigate pre-failure and failure characteristics of suc mixtures under monotonic undrained compression triaxial tests. The results reveal that undrained shear strength, soil modulus and pore pressure decrease when clay content was increased. It was also found that the tested materials were overconsolidated by the fact that normalized shear strength and soil modulus depends on initial confining stress.

Completed One year – Thanks to all authors

Dear Authors/ Supporters/ Researchers,

Best wishes to all,

We are pleased to inform you that IPA and its journals had completed one full year on Jun 19th,2011 and its our pleasure to thank you all for the undaunted support you all had rendered to our journals in the past one year. We had started this journal system considering various factors and the need to provide a platform for researchers to publish their articles. While we are thinking about this concept back January 2010 we are unable to get answers for many issues which we had learned in the past one year through running this journals.

Currently we are receiving articles at a rate of 8-10 per journal per day and we are processing it with a small team still, willing to grow more. This is only because of the promotions our authors/ supporters had done for us and we never even send a single promotional mail to any of the authors/ researchers and in this regard we are highly obliged to all authors/ supporters of our journal system. What ever we had achieved is new and a high task for any start-up journal and we are willing to grow more.

This year we have a definite plan to issue DOI numbers to all articles published and the articles that are going to be published, we are in the planning stage for issuing, we had decided to become member of Crossref.  We are sure that if we achieve this feat this will be a good achievement and it will be a feather in our cap since not many journals are able to provide DOI numbers. Not only this, we are planning a lot to improve overall performance of the site, giving more user interface, introducing new features in this year. In one year what ever is possible we had done that with a small team.

Coming year we are expanding our editorial board and about 300 researchers had given their consent to become our editorial board members in last one year and all their names will be incorporated in the site within one month of time.

In all this ways we had learned a lot about running a journal, problems associated with that and the ways to overcome the same and most of them rely on finance, our financial position is not that much stable since we mostly publish free of cost which is our motto. We had served nearly 1600 authors from 17 countries through 5 of our journals, we are launching 6 more new journals this year covering many verticals. In this regard we request all our authors to support our journals and render promotion to our journals through any possible way they can. We had currently withdrawn membership option and converted that to registration option, an author now only can become a registered author and not as a yearly member, the same is update in our site also. We hope this will not deter our authors in rendering support to our journals, currently our overhead is nearly 1.2 times our revenue in many months and hence its to be balanced for constant growth. In two years we wish to redesign this site with more features and for the same we are in need of high level of financing, hence we apply to all our authors to become our registered authors and support us in our growth.

We are opening the comments column for this post, we request all authors to give their comments and suggestions so that we can do better in the forthcoming year. We are collecting information and suggestions from many of our authors and incorporating the same as and when its possible for us, we will surely hear and act for all suggestions since our wish is to bring a journal system in which community participation is more. If you have any suggestions for our improvement please write to us immediately.

Willing to grow more, willing to serve more.

Best regards,

Editorial board,

Integrated Publishing Association.
